Responsibilities

ES Engineering, a subsidiary of Montrose Environmental Group, is seeking a Chief Plant Operator for oversight of a large, anaerobic digestion waste-to-energy facility. This position will report to the Vice President of Biogas Engineering and will be responsible for day-to-day oversight and management of the facility and a team of operators. Responsibilities will include shift management, facility improvement and maintenance, daily and weekly record keeping and report generation and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating independently in a demanding environment, while communicating closely with other members of the Biogas team in different locations.

 

The initial role will be based in Turtle Lake, WI, but the ideal candidate will be joining the team with the ability and flexibility to become involved in other projects in different locations within North America. The current pipeline of anaerobic digestion projects is substantial and the optimal candidate will thrive through being part of a fast-moving, talented team and becoming involved in different projects.

 

ES Engineering provides a variety of different services to its clients within the Water and Wastewater, Biogas, Petroleum and Solid Waste sectors. Specifically, the Biogas team is led by the Chairman of the American Biogas Council and is rapidly expanding its client base of anaerobic digestion facilities. ES is part of a larger firm, Montrose Environmental Group, which is a high-growth environmental company offering Air Quality, Environmental Laboratory, Regulatory Compliance and Engineering services to a diverse range of clients in industry and government.

 

Must be able to provide references. Start timing for position is ASAP.

 

Responsibilities / Duties

 

  • Effectively manage a team of operators in a goal-driven, team-oriented manner
  • Help set targets and goals for the facility, both financial and operational
  • Identify areas for facility and process improvement and effectively execute the steps necessary to achieve identified targets
  • Lead the maintenance of daily record keeping for the facility
  • Actively communicate with other members of the internal team and also with the owners/investors of the facility
  • Ensure effective and adequate safety programs and procedures are in place
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong background in and understanding of the anaerobic digestion process
  • Prior experience supervising a facility and managing a team of people
  • A minimum of 15 years of prior operating experience in anaerobic digestion or waste water facilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Solid organization and time/project management skills
  • English language competency
