Responsibilities

ES Engineering Services LLC (ES), a subsidiary of Montrose Environmental Group, Inc. (Montrose), is seeking a Senior Manager, Design to join the Global Water Practice team in Irvine, CA.  ES provides a variety of different services to its clients within the Water and Wastewater, Biogas, Petroleum and Solid Waste sectors. ES is part of a larger firm, Montrose, which is a high-growth environmental company offering Air Quality, Environmental Laboratory, Regulatory Compliance and Engineering services to a diverse range of clients in industry and government.

 

This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a project including budget and profitability in addition to planning, performing and reporting field activities associated with municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment in accordance with our Policies and Procedures and Standard Industry Practice. This position is also responsible for identifying new business opportunities as well as QA/QC procedures and protocols and must have demonstrated knowledge of water and wastewater treatment.

  • Lead all design activities related to water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Prepare and approve designs, reports, work plans before client submittal.
  • Assist with managing the Global Water Practice group and address employee performance and expectations as well as any employee concerns.
  • Responsible for group compliance with company and governmental regulations and standards.
  • Report financial profitability, utilization, administrative costs, annual budgeting and business development.
  • Responsible for budget, scheduling, reviewing field activities, invoices, approving labor time, costs and procurement.
  • Prepare project profitability reports for financial analysis and monitor cost control.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and preparing cost estimates and proposals.
  • Identify RFP and funding opportunities and help the team to prepare proposals.
  • Participate in local and national water and wastewater professional organizations and preparing, coordinating and presenting market-specific papers and presentations.
  • Assist in marketing business opportunities with key clients and development of responses to RFP/RFQs.
  • Plan and procure installation of water and wastewater systems in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead vendor management and procurement, i.e., labor/material cost estimates.
  • Responsible for operational permits and programs to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations and to control compliance costs.
  • Review field and lab data for environmental compliance for permits and company standards.
  • Oversee and guide report preparation to appropriate standards and review draft reports.
  • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Practice safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 10+ years water and wastewater treatment related experience
  • Professional Registration in Engineering
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Solid organization and time/project management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
  • English language competency
  • Ability/willingness to travel (up to 25-50%)

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • HAZWOPER certification
  • Project Management Professional Certification
