Responsibilities

ES Engineering Services LLC (ES), a subsidiary of Montrose Environmental Group, Inc. (Montrose), is seeking a Senior Manager, Biogas to join our team.  ES provides a variety of different services to its clients within the Water and Wastewater, Biogas, Petroleum and Solid Waste sectors. ES is part of a larger firm, Montrose, which is a high-growth environmental company offering Air Quality, Environmental Laboratory, Regulatory Compliance and Engineering services to a diverse range of clients in industry and government.

 

This position is responsible for overseeing and managing all engineering and/or technical aspects of a waste-to-energy project including, but not limited to, process optimization, planning, procurement, budget, profitability and site operation and overall performance in accordance with our Policies and Procedures and Standard Industry Practice. This position is also responsible for identifying new business opportunities as well as QA/QC procedures and protocols and must have demonstrated knowledge of waste-to-energy projects.

 

  • Lead all engineering, design and process improvement related to waste-to-energy projects.
  • Identify process and system issues and lead all aspects of the steps required to achieve full facility/site optimization.
  • Lead procurement, scheduling and management of outside resources/vendors and manage all tasks to a predetermined budget/cost.
  • Responsible for financial profitability of projects and tasks.
  • Source and summarize multiple vendor quotes for project tasks; summarize options to present to client and/or project manager.
  • Lead the preparation of and approve designs, reports and work plans before client submittal.
  • Plan and procure installation of waste-to-energy systems in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for obtaining required operational permits and programs to ensure compliance with environmental, local and state regulations; control compliance costs.
  • Review and utilize lab data to aid in process optimization and environmental compliance for permits and company standards.
  • Assist with managing the Biogas group and address employee performance and expectations as well as any employee concerns; become involved in other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Assist with project and task-specific safety protocols and work to ensure that all aspects of a project and/or process meet all company, local, state and federal safety requirements.
  • Oversee and guide report preparation to summarize findings and/or outcomes of facility/process modifications; assist the team with other summary reporting required for internal and external purposes.
  • Responsible for group compliance with company and governmental regulations and standards.
  • Report utilization and other administrative costs associated with projects.
  • Responsible for reviewing providing guidance on operations activities.
  • Prepare project profitability reports for financial analysis and monitor cost control.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and prepare cost estimates and proposals.
  • Identify RFP and funding opportunities and help the team to prepare proposals.
  • Participate in local and national waste-to-energy professional organizations; prepare, coordinate and present market and project-specific papers and presentations.
  • Assist in marketing business opportunities with key clients and development of responses to RFP/RFQs.
  • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Practice safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 10+ years of waste-to-energy project experience.
  • Professional Registration in Engineering.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid organization and time/project management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated).
  • English language competency.
  • Ability/willingness to travel (up to 50%).
