Responsibilities

 

The Laboratory Manager works in conjunction with the Lab Director and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. The LM ensures the timely & profitable production of chemical measurement services and coordinates work scheduling and laboratory resource allocation. The LM supervises and manages adherence to QA/QC and project requirements, assesses production capacity, and provides solutions for human resources and quality issues. The LM provides staff development services, career path evaluations and ensures the lab staff is developing necessary skills and abilities for the work today and in the future.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assigning and clearly communicating operational priorities
  • Allocating lab resources to meet client schedule & requirements
  • Supervising technical staff
  • Ensuring sufficient assets, qualified employees are available to perform and supervise the laboratory’s work
  • Assisting with and conducting employee performance reviews and audits
  • Projecting staffing needs: hiring and firing staff
  • QA: Corrective actions related to staff training and performance Coordinate work scheduling and laboratory resource allocation
  • Supervise and manage adherence to project requirements, QA/QC, and turnaround requirements
  • Assess production capacity and provided solutions for human resources, technical, and quality issues
  • Provide staff development services, career path evaluations and ensures the lab staff is developing necessary skills and abilities for the work today and in the future
  • Personnel supervision, time management, and operational efficiency
  • Hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions
  • Conflict resolution, personnel skills development and team building
  • Accurate and timely communication with internal and external clients
  • Preparation of data summaries for inclusion in client reports
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Communicate with client’s questions or concerns
  • Initiate and address non-conformance issues
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lab Director
  • Ensure staff comply with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing a laboratory or other analytical testing facility.
  • BA or BS in the natural sciences  or equivalent, graduate degree or MBA preferred
