Responsibilities

 

Curtis & Tompkins is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, a vibrant young company started in 2012, now just shy of 1000 employees in approximately 40 offices around the country. Our employees describe us as very fast, very flexible and lots of fun.  We are looking to hire a Group Leader for our Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds team based out of Berkeley, CA.  This individual will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze water, soil, and misc. samples for Semi-Volatile Organics using GC, GC-MS, GC-ECD and HPLC
  • Personnel supervision, time management, and operational efficiency
  • Perform instrument maintenance and repair
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Prepare calibration standards & calibrate instruments
  • Maintain inventory of standards & supplies; order replacements as needed
  • Hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions
  • Conflict resolution, personnel skills development and team building
  • Accurate and timely communication with internal and external clients
  • Project scheduling
  • Development of analytical methods
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
  • Peer review other analysts’ data packages, data entry, sequences, benchbooks, etc.
  • Dispose of excess sample and standard volume
  • Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Ensure staff comply with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience required
  • Knowledge of EPA Methods 8270, 8015, 8081, 8082, and 8310 preferred
