Responsibilities

Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, a vibrant, young company started in 2012, now just shy of 1,000 employees in approximately 40 offices around the country.  Our employees describe us as very fast, very flexible and lots of fun.

 

Enthalpy Analytical is comprised of over 8 laboratories servicing air, water, soil and tobacco testing. Regulations drive the need for our services but our unique capabilities allow us to add value (e.g., new streams of income) to clients beyond environmental compliance. For our families and communities, we strive to protect the air they breathe, the water they drink and the soil on which they live.

 

Our Richmond, VA location is looking for a full-time Group Leader who can equip and maintain our well-trained and informed employees to meet the expectations of our clients by efficiently and profitably generating defensible data on time.  Our Group Leaders are analysts who are responsible for most aspects of an operating team within the lab.  Their role is one of a facilitator. 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Personnel supervision, time management, and operational efficiency
  • Hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions
  • Conflict resolution, personnel skills development and team building
  • Accurate and timely communication with internal and external clients
  • Project scheduling
  • Analyze samples as needed by using various published methods or in-house SOP
  • Development of toxicological methods
  • Preparation of data summaries for inclusion in client reports
  • Sample and Standard Preparation, as needed
  • Occasional split shift and/or weekend duties
  • Instrument calibration and maintenance
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Write and assist QAC with updating related SOPs
  • Maintain adequate consumables and parts for analyses
  • Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis, and equipment maintenance
  • Communicate with client's questions or concerns
  • Initiate and address non-conformance issues
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
  • Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Ensure staff comply with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties, as assigned by the Toxicology Director, Lab Manager or Lab Director

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in Toxicology, physiology, pharmacology, Biology, Environmental Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience required
  • Group Leaders must be well versed in most of the methods run within their department
  • They must understand the underlying physical or chemical principles that underpin the assays being performed
  • They must have shown the ability to organize, communicate, and facilitate priorities to staff in an effective manner
  • They must be able to handle non-routine samples and be capable of managing an effective workflow in their department (this includes managing man-hours, machine time and logistics for numerous assays)

 

Preferred Qualifications, Education and Skills

  • Masters or PhD
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques, cytotoxicity and genotoxicity assays, microscopy (light and fluorescence), microplate based assay's, histological and biochemical techniques
  • Effectiveness: Positive outcomes & results of communication skills
  • Conflict resolution skills: Removes/Breakdown organizational communication barriers
  • Assertion Skills: Problem diagnosis, assess corrective action
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure during stressful times
