ES Engineering Services, a subsidiary of Montrose Environmental Group, provides a variety of different services to its clients within the areas Water and Wastewater, Biogas, Petroleum and Environmental Compliance.  ES is part of a larger firm, Montrose Environmental Group, which is a high-growth environmental services company offering Air Quality, Environmental Laboratory, Regulatory Compliance and Engineering services to a diverse range of clients in industry and government


The Field Safety Specialist will assist with maintaining EHS compliance for multiple biogas and waste water plants across the US. This position will work with the local site teams to ensure proper programs are being implemented and specific goals are on track and achieved. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing a compliance-based culture, is hands on assiting locations improve performance and has demonstrated success developing safety programs and processes. Specific duties include the following:


Managing Safety Program Elements:

  • Work with local management team to ensure multiple Montrose biogas and waste water sites have minimum safety elements in place
  • Assist sites develop and implement specific programs and processes
  • Manage, audit and support site safety program elements and new initiatives
  • Perform training, site safety plans, Job Safety Procedures (JSPs), write safe work permits, develop site specific procedures and peform compliance audits
  • Develop action plans for locations that need special assistance to bring operations into compliance and track performance
  • Communicate with other corporate safety department members to seek assistance with compliance plans
  • Write perodic update reports defining current gaps and opportunities for improvements
  • Coach team members who are not performing according to site rules


Managing Incidents:

  • Be first point of contact for all site EHS incidents
  • Ensure incidents are properly communicated through the chain of command
  • Ensure all incidents are properly managed and investigated
  • Perform investigations
  • Manage follow up corrective actions


  • College degree or relevant experience
  • Must be able to work independently with a flexible schedule. This position is more than 40 hours/week and requires weekend and evening time depending on situation. Some travel will also be required.
  • Must exhibit autonomy and able to make decisions based on available information
  • Ability to travel 50% of time
