    We are looking for a Benefits Manager to join our team in Irvine, CA.  


    Position Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for overseeing Montrose’s employee benefits programs such as 401(k) plan; medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; leave and wellness programs.
    • Provides special guidance and assistance to employees on various employee benefit plans; handles benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure quick and courteous resolution.
    • Develops, recommends and implements specifications for new plans or modifications to existing plans to maintain Company’s competitive position in the labor market by surveying industry and other sources of information.
    • Alongside Broker, develops, recommends and implements cost control procedures and strategic plan adjustments to assure optimal coverage at the least possible cost to the Company and employees.
    • Prepares announcement materials, plan summary documents and other media for communicating plans to employees; conducts employee meetings and coordinates all Open Enrollment activities.
    • With legal consultation and broker coordination, prepares benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies; instructs insurance carriers, trustees and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefits program and ensure prompt and accurate compliance.
    • Assures company compliance with provisions of the Affordable Care Act.
    • Prepares reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies in addition to develops benefits reports data for actuaries, insurance carriers and management.
    • In coordination with Broker, reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and report/recommend necessary or suggested changes to management.
    • Coordinates company benefits with government-sponsored programs such as Cobra, disability programs, retirement and leave programs.
    • Supervises maintenance of enrollment and claims records for all benefits plans.
    • Implement and oversee employee wellness programs
    • Responsible for maintaining broker relationship and evaluation of broker performance; report and make recommendations to management.
    • Responsible for maintenance and evaluation of retirement plans, broker and plan administrator.
    • Responsible for mergers and acquisitions benefits diligence and analysis and responsible for integration activities, including training, of acquired employees.
    • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
    • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
    • Participates in company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
    • Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business, Human Resources or related field from an accredited university
    • 5+ years of experience in HR with focus on benefits administration
    • Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to benefits, company policies, and operations.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software and PC programs or equivalent
    • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    • Excellent organization and time/project management skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
    • English language competency
    • Ability/willingness to travel as needed
