    Laboratory Technicians are responsible for performing tasks required to meet the expectations of our clients, in addition to efficiently and profitably generating defensible data in a timely manner.  These tasks will be performed under the direction of a Group Leader.

     

    Position Responsibilities:

     

    • Daily monitoring of sample scheduling and ensure that samples are analyzed within EPA’s holding time and clients’ due dates
    • Routine sample preparation and analysis according to Standard Methods (9223, 9221, 9215, 9230, 5210B, etc...), and CDC methods
    • Prepares media and reagents
    • Performs initial review of data
    • Reviews of QA/QC criteria for batch acceptance
    • Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures and follow safe work practices
    • Run daily, monthly, quarterly and annual QC checks on micro equipment, media, supplies and materials
    • Perform data entry
    • Perform inventory, thermometers calibration, 
    • Cross trains on inter-department and intra-department levels
    • Participates in lab’s meetings and focus teams
    • Work effectively with other departments

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
    • Lab experience allows direct advancement to Tech II (academic lab counts)

    Preferred Skills:  

      • Associates degree in Science or related field. 
      • 1 year of lab experience (academic or professional) preferred
      • Familiar with microbiological methods and techniques
      • Able to accommodate flexible schedule including overtime, after-hours and weekend
      • Able to work independently and make sound decision
      • Excellent organization skills and strong communication skills
