    ES Engineering Services, a subsidiary of Montrose Environmental Group, is seeking a Construction Manager for an anaerobic digester waste-to-energy facility located in Charlotte, NC.  ES Engineering provides a variety of different services to its clients within the areas of Water and Wastewater, Biogas, Petroleum and Environmental Compliance. Specifically, the Biogas team is led by the Chairman of the American Biogas Council and is rapidly expanding its client base of anaerobic digestion facilities. ES is part of a larger firm, Montrose Environmental Group, which is a high-growth environmental services company offering Air Quality, Environmental Laboratory, Regulatory Compliance and Engineering services to a diverse range of clients in industry and government.


    The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the department personnel in addition to overseeing all aspects of the department including budget and risk management.


    • Review remediation construction scopes of work & offers as necessary.
    • Manage construction & environmental (C&E) projects including task scheduling & coordination (drilling & construction); vendor/subcontractor procurement & scheduling; technical data evaluation & interpretation; project implementation oversight; project deliverable preparation.
    • Oversee C&E permitting for local building departments; local & state right-of-ways;  environmental permitting & local agency environmental permitting
    • Supervise financial aspects of construction projects including subcontractor invoice review; budget & work-in-progress monitoring and adjustments and project invoicing.
    • Provide senior technical review of standard environmental project written reports and report prep for non-traditional C&E scopes
    • Scope development, costing and proposal preparation for construction projects, large scale C&E projects and non-traditional C&E projects
    • Provide technical oversight and direction to staff for environmental projects.
    • Manage contract matters, rate schedules, change orders, subcontractors & technical inquiry
    • Manage the department personnel and needs as well as address employee performance and expectations and any employee concerns.
    • Evaluate and direct C& E vehicle & equipment maintenance and repair for cost control and monitor overall fleet health and operating expense in addition to soliciting and completing purchases of vehicles, construction & environmental equipment.
    • Assist Accounting & HR with fleet management including tracking lists/reports for titles, tagging and location.
    • Maintain remediation equipment/trailers inventory – equipment ID & ID tagging and storage location.
    • Monitor and assist staff with resource procurement & management – employees, drillers, labs, and related subcontractors.
    • Complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40 hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher classes.
    • Practice safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
    • Participate in the Company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
    • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    • 10+ years of environmental related experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Geology or related.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software and PC programs or equivalent
    • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
    • Strong Problem solving and analytical skills
    • Solid organization and time management skills
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Able to work independently, managing multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
    • English language competency
    • Ability/willingness to travel 

    Preferred Skills


    • HAZWOPER certification
    • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Geology or related
    • Professional Engineering or Geology Registration
