    Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 8 laboratories servicing air, water, soil and tobacco testing.  Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.  For our families and communities, we strive to protect the air they breathe, the water they drink, and the soil on which they live.  


    Our Enthalpy Berkeley laboratory is looking to hire a Metals Prep Technician, entry level with a starting hourly rate of between $15-$17/hour which will be commensurate with experience. This individual will work an 2pm-10:30pm shift, Monday through Friday.  Metals Prep Technicians digest samples and perform other tasks to meet the expectations of our clients by efficiently and profitably generating defensible data on time.


    Primary Workstation Responsibilities:

    • Digest water and soil samples for ICP and ICP-MS analysis 

    • Prepare filtrates, digest if needed

    • Digest air, wipes, and filter samples for ICP and ICP-MS analysis 

    • Calibrate balances, pipettes, and dispensers 

    • Prepare reagents and document preparation 

    • Maintain digestion reagents & supplies inventory and order replacements

    • Dispose of expended samples and excess digestate volume

    • Keep workstation clean & organized

    • Assist with TCLP and WET extractions

    • Assist with moisture analysis

    • Assist mercury digestion and analysis


    General Responsibilities of all analysts:

    • Document sample preparation completely enough to reconstruct the process, detect an error, or demonstrate substantial compliance to specific procedures. 

    • Document sample preparation legibly, with compliant entries into benchbooks according to specifications detailed in the associated SOPs.

    • Assemble data packages and perform peer review of work.

    • Inform manager or peers of their understanding or any situation that is out of compliance and initiate a Corrective Action Report (if necessary).

    • Observe acceptable safety habits and keep a clean work area.

    • Obtain from Department Manager and peers a complete understanding of compliance criteria for the tests and procedures they are performing at specific workstations.


    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    • Associates degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field

    • 1 year of relevant experience (academic lab experience counts)

    Preferred Skills:

    • Knowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety

    • Must be flexible in work schedule (including Saturday) and able to work overtime

    • Well organized and have an attention to detail

    • Good organization and communication skills
