    Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 8 laboratories servicing air, water, soil and tobacco testing.  Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.  For our families and communities, we strive to protect the air they breathe, the water they drink, and the soil on which they live.  


    We are currently looking for a full-time Sample Control Technician for our Durham, NC laboratory.  Sample Control Technicians are responsible for ensuring that samples received are documented and stored correctly. They are the first point of contact between the clients’ samples and the laboratory and, as such, are responsible for immediately notifying the Project Manager to receipt, volume, preservation, labeling, or other discrepancies. The hourly range for this position is between $15-$17/hour, which is commensurate with experience.


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Utilize LIMS to receive, allocate, and document client environmental and tobacco samples.
    • Reconciles project sample custody documents with sample received, notify project manager of discrepancies.
    • Route samples into the appropriate workflow and ensure downstream staff is alerted to sample availability and priority.
    • Maintain sample identification, integrity, and chain of custody throughout all department processes, including archiving and wasting.
    • Order, track, stock and maintain lab consumables and testing equipment.
    • Receive supplies shipments and cross reference manifests for accuracy.
    • Properly fill and ship field supplies to clients.
    • Maintain laboratory logs.
    • Participate in safety and other continuing education programs. Dispose and label waste appropriately.
    • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
    • Must begin and complete all assignments with minimal supervision.
    • Must be able to collaborate with other departments and colleagues for problem solving
    • Assist in maintaining a high level of housekeeping within the laboratories.
    • Consistently meet productivity, schedule adherence, and quality standards.
    • Weekend and overtime will be required, as necessary.
    • Other duties, as assigned.



    • Associates Degree
    • 2-years of previous lab experience
    • Valid state issued driver’s license to drive company vehicles
    • Proficient in computers and database software
    • Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety
    • Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)
    • Able to work independently and make sound decisions
    • Must be meticulous and thorough. Attention to detail is an absolute requirement
    • Must be able to pass pre-employment screens, including background, MVR, and drug screen


      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s Degree
