    Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 8 laboratories servicing air, water, soil and tobacco testing.  Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.  For our families and communities, we strive to protect the air they breathe, the water they drink, and the soil on which they live.  

     

    We are currently seeking a full-time Toxicology Technical Director or our tobacco, cigarette, and e-cigarette testing laboratory in Richmond, VA.  The Technical Director will be responsible for production of the Toxicology Department by ensuring timely and profitable production of toxicological (cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, mutagenicity) analyses.  The Technical Director is the laboratory’s lead test and measurements technical resource, responsible for improving procedures and implementation of new technologies to reduce costs, and maximize operating efficiencies by effectively managing and developing available technology solutions.  They will also improve efficiencies by minimizing down-time and maximizing instruction through-put and assisting the Group Leaders in training staff to operate new and existing test and measurement equipment.

     

    Role and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate work scheduling and laboratory resource allocation
    • Meet TAT, financial, and quality objectives
    • Supervise and manage adherence to QA/QC, hold time and turnaround requirements
    • Assesses production capacity, and provides solutions for human resources, technical, and quality issues
    • Assign and clearly communicating operational priorities
    • Allocate lab resources to meet client schedule & requirements
    • Supervise Group Leaders, supervisors, and staff
    • Assist with and conducting employee performance reviews and audits
    • Projecting staffing needs: hiring and firing staff
    • QA: Corrective actions related to staff training and performance
    • Other duties, as assigned by Laboratory Director

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

    • Master’s or PhD degree in the area of toxicology with a strong understanding of toxicology assays (cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, mutagenicity).
    • Scientific expertise or background in physiology, pharmacology or toxicology.
    • The Technical Director must meet the requirements of the accrediting body(ies) of the laboratory.
    • The Technical Director will meet all of the requirements of a Group Leader plus have technical expertise for most of the assays performed throughout their areas of responsibility.

    • Analytical thinking to solve technical problems
    • Strong Research and Development skills
    • Effective communication skills
    • DABT preferred, or actively pursuing
    • Superior time management skills
    • CRO experience or background
    • Previous management experience, a plus
