    Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 8 laboratories servicing air, water, soil and tobacco testing.  Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.  For our families and communities, we strive to protect the air they breathe, the water they drink, and the soil on which they live.  


    Our Hampton, NH aquatic toxicology and environmental laboratory is looking for a full-time Chemistry Group Leader who can equip and maintain our well-trained and informed employees to meet the expectations of our clients by efficiently and profitably generating defensible data on time.  Our Group Leaders are analysts who are responsible for most aspects of an operating team within the lab.  Their role is one of a facilitator.   


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Personnel supervision, time management of employees including:
      • Hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions
      • Conflict resolution, personnel skills development and team building
      • Scheduling and follow up of daily tasks within the group
    • Accurate and timely communication with clients and management
    • Project scheduling and execution
    • Analyze samples as needed by using various client reports
    • Sample and standard preparation, as needed
    • Occasional split shift and/or weekend duties
    • Instrument calibration and maintenance
    • Troubleshooting and problem solving
    • Write and assist QAC with updating related SOPs
    • Maintain adequate consumables and parts for analyses
    • Maintain organized records of sample preparation and analysis, and equipment maintenance
    • Communicate with client's questions or concerns
    • Initiate and address non-conformance issues
    • Oversee projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
    • Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
    • Ensure staff comply with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan
    • Other duties, as assigned by the Lab Director or Lab Manager


    • Associates degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or equivalent
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience
    • Group Leaders must be well versed in most of the methods run within their department
    • They must understand the underlying physical or chemical principles that underpin the assays being performed
    • They must have shown the ability to organize, communicate, and facilitate priorities to staff in an effective manner
    • They must be able to handle non-routine samples and be capable of managing an effective workflow in their department (this includes managing man-hours, machine time and logistics for numerous assays)


    Preferred Qualifications, Education and Skills

    • 1 year of management or supervisory experience, preferred
    • Effectiveness: Positive outcomes & results of communication skills
    • Conflict resolution skills: Removes/Breakdown organizational communication barriers
    • Assertion Skills: Problem diagnosis, assess corrective action
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure during stressful times
