    The Laboratory Director will have supervisory control of all production aspects of their laboratory and is responsible for the business management, laboratory operations, adhering to Quality Assurance, Information Technology and Financial performance of the lab.  The Laboratory Director is primarily responsible for the application and development of the lab's resources to meet current and future client requirements.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assigning and clearly communicating operational priorities
    • The Laboratory Director's responsibilities encompass the general business management of the laboratory, and all its resources, including equipment, facilities and personnel
    • Monitoring standards of QA/QC performance; and monitoring the validity of the analyses performed and data generated to assure reliable data.
    • Implementing corporate programs and directives for Operations, Personnel, Facilities, IT and Financial management.
    • Strategic planning and business development
    • Records storage and security
    • Sets positive tone and direction for the lab, encouraging best results from staff
    • Supports company vision, mission and policies
    • Frequent, effective, clear, honest and open communication

    Qualifications

     

     

    Skills, Abilities & Experience

     

    • Associates degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or equivalent
    • Minimum of 5 years relevent experience required
    • Must have familiarity for most, if not all, of the assays performed at their laboratory
    • Must understand the drivers that motivate customers to purchase assays from their lab
    • Must have the ability to manage their staff
    • Must have the knowledge and skill needed to manage the P&L for their laboratory
    • Should have most of the skill sets of a Group Leader and a Senior PM

    Preffered Skills

     

    • Effectiveness -  Postive outcomes and results of communication skills
    • Conflict resolution skills - Removes/breaks down organizational communication barriers
    • Assertion Skills - Problem diagnosis, assess corrective action from their lab
