    The Principal Engineer will join our Global Water Practice team based out of Irvine, CA. This role will be responsible for creating designs, specifications and cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment projects nationwide. 



    • Prepares detailed designs, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump and lift stations, collection and distribution systems, etc. More specific responsibilities include establishing appropriate design methods, conducting engineering and process design, equipment sizing and selection, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, and report preparation.
    • Plans, schedules and coordinates construction procurement, and supervises field construction activities involving general construction and /or trade subcontractors and vendors.
    • Assists with management of vendors, budgets, tasks, timelines, deliverables, and invoicing.
    • Conduct quality control and quality assurance tests and ensures designs are compliant with the clients’ technical requirements and budget(s).
    • Assists in marketing business opportunities with key clients and development of responses to RFP/RFQs.
    • Serves as a key client contact tasked with building and maintaining client relations with both internal and external clients coupled with the development of new clients.
    • Assists or leads projects as a client lead and or/project manager.
    • Assists with directing the work of junior engineering staff for water and wastewater projects, as requested.
    • Travels to the project site to conduct project-related tasks; provides timely responses to managers and clients on project tasks.
    • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs. 
    • Participates in Company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts. 
    • Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.  
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
    • 12+ years of engineering-related experience in water and wastewater treatment
    • Professional Engineering Registration in California
    • Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher class.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, Google and/or PC programs
    • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    • Solid organization and time/project management skills
    • Strong communication and listening skills.
    • Able to handle multiple assignments.
    • Knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, SCADA, structural and architectural discipline along with working knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM.
    • Able to work independently manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
    • Willingness and ability to travel as needed



    • Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university
    • HAZWOPER certification
