    The Director, Facility Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and field teams for all contracted O&M services on the East Coast. Additionally, the role is responsible for leading and maintaining a direct and open dialogue witth clients, preparing staffing and cost estimates for operations and maintenance contracts and/or out-of-scope work, as well as ensure the safe operation of all operations teams and facilities.  

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Leads the site supervisors and field operations teams and oversees all operations and maintenance activities associated with wastewater treatment and waste-to-energy plants, advanced water treatment facilities and reclaimed water distribution and disposal facilities.
    • Ensures that the facilities and operations meet all applicable regulatory requirements and are operated in accordance with design criteria; work with each lead plant operator to maintain an operational protocol for how each facility/process should be operated.
    • Leads teams to focus on developing and implementing techniques and methods of process control that will increase plant and operational efficiencies.
    • Works with internal and external resources to oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of a site-specific safety plan for each operation.
    • Oversees the identification of operation and maintenance changes that will be required based on plant changes, system/process modifications or new equipment.
    • Works directly with clients to ensure that the relationship is in good standing and that the wastewater systems/operations are meeting the needs and specifications of the clients.
    • Travels to visit each operation/team on at least a bi-annual basis and maintain a consistent line of communication with each lead operator; develop channels and/or meetings to ensure that all operators receive a consistent message and/or direction.
    • Oversees the development and generation of out-of-scope work proposals; ensures that specific requirements are met and that all information needed is included in the proposal package.
    • Assists in the preparation and job costing of operations proposals and contracts; prepares cost estimates based on team size, scope of operation and individual client needs.
    • Assists with new business development efforts and actively markets the firm’s and team’s capabilities externally; works to identify and solicit new clients to gain new O&M roles.
    • Collaborates with internal team members to respond to requests and contribute information in regards to new business opportunities that are being pursued.
    • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
    • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs. 
    • Participates in Company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts. 
    • Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.  
    • Performs other duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Science or related discipline from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • 10+ years of facility operations and leadership experience
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, Google and/or PC programs
    • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    • Solid organization and time/project management skills
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Able to work independently manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
    • English language competency
    • Willingness and ability to travel as needed

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Science or related discipline from an accredited university
    • Experience with operations and leadership for wastewater and/or waste-to-energy operations/facilities
    • Commensurate wastewater licenses and certifications
