Our Electrical Engineer will need at least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with the design of water, wastewater and/or waste-to-energy facilities and welcome the opportunity to make an impact from day one.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

 

As a key member of our team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

 

  • Collaborates with Project Managers and Engineers to manage project timelines and budgets, including purchase orders and invoices, as well as other project-related tasks.
  • Prepares cost estimates for design and construction.
  • Prepares test plans and reports for clients and presents project results.
  • Designs and reviews the design of electrical power systems and specifications for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Travels to project site(s) to conduct project tasks; provides timely response to managers and clients on project tasks.
  • Collects operational and analytical data to evaluate system performance
  • Performs load calculations, detailed conduit routing, motor control center and switchgear design, and specification generation.
  • Prepares, reviews and modifies P&ID’s, instrumentation, electrical floor plans, controls, schedules and detail sheets.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Participates in Company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with the design of water and wastewater facilities
  • Demonstrated progress towards Professional Engineering Registration
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and MicroStation
  • Familiarity with power system applications, including calculation of available short circuit current, voltage drop, harmonic distortion and power factors
  • understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 820 and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
  • Familiarity with the IEEE color book series
  • Complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class and annual 8-hour refresher class.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, Google and/or PC programs
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Solid organization and time/project management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineering Registration
  • HAZWOPER certification
