Are you ready to take the first step in your career? Are you looking for a great opportunity to gain real work experience? If yes, we have the internship for you! Based in our Antioch, CA office, we are looking for an Environmental Field Technician who will gain experience working with Project Managers and other Field Technicians on air emissions source testing projects including: preparation, calibration and deployment of test equipment, stack (or “source”) testing/ sampling, and more.

Montrose Air Quality Services (MAQS) is a division of Montrose Environmental Group.  MAQS offers an innovative group of professionals in several air quality disciplines. Our certified professionals provide testing of industrial emissions, testing of ambient air quality, process leak detection and repair services, and regulatory permitting and compliance services to industry and government.

 

MAQS is the nation’s largest provider of air emissions testing services. We test emissions from “smokestacks” at industrial facilities of all kinds, all over the world. This 12-week paid internship is part time, with approximately 20-30 hours per week. With this internship, we offer you the chance to gain hands-on experience with:

 

  • Performing equipment calibrations
  • Test program preparations and de-preps
  • Conducting field work activities for projects (e.g. test setup, data collection)

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate science or engineering program, or currently has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude and interest in science, technical work, mechanical equipment, and air quality
  • Ability to work in outdoor industrial settings, including climbing to and working on elevated platforms
  • Willingness and ability to travel for multi-weekday projects as needed
