Based in our Antioch, CA office, we are looking for a Laboratory Technician who will gain experience working with our laboratory department to provide analytical services for air source testing. The primary responsibility of the Laboratory Assistant is performing tasks required to meet the expectations of our clients, in addition to efficiently and profitably generating defensible data in a timely manner.  These tasks will be performed under the direction of the Laboratory Manager.




Montrose Air Quality Services (MAQS) is a division of Montrose Environmental Group.  MAQS offers an innovative group of professionals in several air quality disciplines. Our certified professionals provide testing of industrial emissions, testing of ambient air quality, process leak detection and repair services, and regulatory permitting and compliance services to industry and government.


MAQS is the nation’s largest provider of air emissions testing services. We test emissions from “smokestacks” at industrial facilities of all kinds, all over the world. This 12-week paid internship is part time, with approximately 20-30 hours per week. With this internship, we offer you the chance to gain hands-on experience with:


  • Preparing samples for analysis
  • Preparing laboratory analysis reports
  • Conducting laboratory support functions (e.g. inventory management, inspections)
  • Performing equipment calibrations
  • Coordinating consumables, chemicals, and glassware for use by field team

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Chemistry curriculum or currently has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science field
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of analytical methods, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety
